Ans- The above statement refers to the many odd jobs that the boys do in Verona town to earn money.

Ans- The above statement refers to the state of embarrassment that the boys were at, on asking about what they do with the money the earn by this much hard work.
c)He smiled uncomfortabely."just plans,sir,"he answered in low voice.
Ans-On suggestion of the author of going to USA, the Nicola replied that they had other plans to carryover, perhaps the 'just plans' refers to the earning money that they had to give to the hospital for the better treatment of their sister.
d)Yet in both these boyish faces there was a seriousness which was far beyond their years.
Ans-The above statement refers to the maturity that the boys possess in their behaviour despite of their small age.

Ans-luigi,the driver disapprove the two boys because of their shabby appearance.

Ans-The narrator and his companions were impressed with the boys because of their ability of performing a large no. Of odd jobs. They sold fruits, shined shoes, sold newspapers and even worked as tourist guides.
c)Why was the auther surprised to see Nicola and jacopo working as a shoe shine boys?
Ans-The author was surprised to see the boys shining shoes because he and his companion thought that they were only fruit sellers.
d)How were the boys useful to the author?
Ans-The boys proved very useful to the author and his companion as they did what had been asked to them, they showed them the city, bought them cigars and tickets for the opera and told them about the good restaurants.
e)why were the boys in the deserted square at night?what character traits do they exhibits?
Ans-The boys were in the deserted square at night because they were waiting for the last bus at Padua so that they could sell newspapers. This exhibits that they were hardworking and determined.
f)The narrator asks the boys,"must you work so hard?you both look rather tired."the boys reply,"We are not complaining,sir."what do you learn about the boys from their reply?
Ans-Their reply suggested that they were only determined to earn money so that they could collect money for their sisters treatment and they didn't cared about any pain that they were suffering from.
g)when the narrator asks the boys about their plans,they are evasive.why don't they disclose their problems?
Ans-They didn't want to disclose their problems to anyone because they were strong and courageous. They didn't wanted help from anyone. They were confident that they could care their sister without anyone's help.
